Project Description

Client Needs

Expanded parking for golf carts and bikes for residents using the pool club across the street. Ideally provide a seating area and inviting planted beds.

tellUs Project Proposal

Using a porous material – crushed gravel – as the base of the golf cart parking area allowed for the drainage of the site when heavy rains fall. As the site sits next to a lake, percolation of the parking area needed to be maintained. Privacy for the adjacent lot with a home was accounted for and planted with a dense layer of material to assure the comfortability of the homeowner. A seating area with "lily pads" was suggested. This was done in order to ameliorate the rise and fall of the lake?s edge. As there are many families with children/grandchildren, attention was paid on how to make it more appealing to younger age groups.

A biking area was placed at the front of the lot to assure the safety of bikers and golf cart drivers. Assuring no cross of these two entities was taken into account to prevent any collisions of the two.

Planting beds with lighting were dedicated to the front of the site to both soften the look of the gravel and shield some of the view of the golf cart parking. Palms were used towards the rear of the site to frame the view. Lighting was provided at the base of the palms to provide interest at night, as well as safety.

The Finished Product

While the lily pads were not installed, the remaining portions of the plan were.
