Client Needs

Privacy for pool from neighbors. An outdoor entertaining area with a built-in kitchen. A pool with a spa and a water feature. An area of grass left as open space.

tellUs Project Proposal

In order to maximize the small yard, the pool/spa, outdoor kitchen and entertaining bar area were pushed to the far end of the property. This created an open green space between the home and the newly designed areas. This also allowed for a better view of the elements from within the home. Raising the spa to the counter level cultivates a space in which those at the bar can communicate with those in the spa. As the height of the spa is at counter height, one must sit at the edge of the spa and enter the spa from a seated position atop the final stair level. This edge of the spa also becomes a seat. A spa overflow into the pool was used to create movement and sound in the environment.  A second water feature built into a planter on the opposite side of the pool was placed to provide a view for the people in the spa and entertaining area.  

The planter boxes and water feature wall provided an opportunity to give privacy to the pool area as well as became a shield for pool equipment behind. As there are plantings against the fence the neighboring home would not have to look upon the equipment either. Large shrubs were specified on the opposite side of the backyard as well to continue the element of a private oasis.
